I'm a playwright, screenwriter, and director who lives in Brooklyn. My plays have been produced by the Royal Court, Donmar Warehouse, Almeida, Lincoln Center, Playwrights Horizons, Manhattan Theatre Club, and Goodman Theatre, among others. I have adapted plays for the Roundabout on Broadway and Park Avenue Armory, and directed my own work off-Broadway at Second Stage and the Vineyard. I won an Obie for playwriting and have been a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in Drama.

I was a 2005 Guggenheim Fellow, a 2019-20 Radcliffe Fellow at Harvard, a 2020-21 Cullman Fellow at the New York Public Library, and a 2023 and 2026 MacDowell Fellow.
